The formation of The Restless Sons came in 2011 after singer/songwriter Darren O'Brien decided it was time to bring his songs some new life.  Darren had spent the past few years playing solo acoustic shows in between his obligations to multiple other local acts but as the years passed by so did the other bands and he found himself alone with only his solo act to perform.  The songs were simple upbeat tunes with a touch of folky storytelling and a splash of punk rock energy all heavily strummed out on his trusty acoustic but with melodies flying through his head he knew they were meant for so much more.  It was time to add a band to fill that void.

The first addition to the band was a no brainer for Darren, bringing in his older brother Sean O’Brien on lead guitar.  Filling the gaps with catchy lead melodies, Sean was a perfect fit but they were still missing the low end and rhythm section.  On bass they brought in Neil “Boom Boom” Thollander, former bassist and bandmate of 10+ years of the O’Brien’s past punk band Something Cool.  The drummer would be the final piece to fit the puzzle of what is The Restless Sons and it would take them a couple of years and a handful of drummers to find the right fit.

In 2013 The Restless Sons found Bryan Goodrich and he was an instant fit, rounding out the backing vocals duties along with always keeping a solid rhythm on the drums (not to mention taking over the band’s booking and really adding some restless miles to their belt).  Since then The Restless Sons have stayed busy, putting out 3 EPs themselves (“A Glimpse of Hope” 2013, “There’s No Place Like Home” 2014, and “A Long Story Short” 2016), booking multiple tours of the Pacific Northwest, countless local gigs and even spent a week and a half playing shows in Japan in the summer of 2016.

Always eager to entertain, The Restless Sons are a fun and exciting band to watch and listen to with much much more to come!
